Gerry Hearn, LICSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the State of Rhode Island. I am also a Kentucky Licensed Pastoral Counselor.
I work from a bio-psychosocial-spiritual, strengths-based perspective utilizing behavioral therapies (acceptance commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and rational emotive behavioral therapy), coaching, faith-based counseling, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, pastoral counseling, psychodynamic psychotherapy, solution focused therapy, and spiritual disciplines and formation.
I work with clients dealing with a wide range of presenting problems including, but not limited to, acute stress disorders, addiction & recovery (alcoholism, drugs, and pornography), ADHD, adjustment disorders, aging, anger management, anxiety disorders, bereavement, bipolar disorders, church hurt, depression, existential crises, grief and loss, meaning and purpose, OCD, personality disorders, PTSD, religious deconstruction, and religious abuse & trauma.
Therapy is a relationship in which I covenant to journey with you to help you to reach your therapeutic goals. The therapeutic journey at times can be affirming, challenging, comforting, confronting, educating, empowering, enlighten ening, inspiring, reality-testing, reassuring, self-examining, but always transforming.
