Meredith Arden, APRN
Are you a hardworking, caring, driven and capable person who is running on a motor that can't stop? Being a perfectionist, super-parent, or overachiever is not sustainable or realistic. Over time, it leads to burnout, an unhealthy lifestyle. The good news is it doesn't have to be this way. You can get out of this negative cycle if you are open to new possibilities and willing to seek the right help.
Clients working with me can expect to experience an engaging, collaborative, honest and (yes) even fun approach to managing life’s messiness. While my primary role is to provide clients with medication management, you can expect supportive therapy to be integrated into each visit. What is going on in your life week by week plays an important role in your perception of how well medications are working.
My specializations include perinatal mental health (prescribing medications during pregnancy), women’s health, and other parenting challenges including postpartum depression, child development and conscious & respectful parenting.
From a more general standpoint, I can also assist client with the thoughtful decision to initiate medication management for symptoms of depression, anxiety, anger, obsessive compulsive disorder, mood disorders and attention deficit disorder. I especially enjoy working with the LGBTQ community.
Medication is only one part of managing life’s challenges, and so I highly encourage patients to also meet with a therapist at regular intervals. It well known that this will result in the best possible outcomes for you!
My experiences in psychiatric nursing & prescribing include inpatient acute hospital care, acute psychiatric evaluations, complex consultations, outpatient hospital level of care, expert consultation for medico-legal cases, and equine assisted psychotherapy, as well as providing care for patients here at Rhode Island Counselling Associates.
Nothing you will say will surprise me and you can look forward to an open, nonjudgmental atmosphere. Let’s work smarter, not harder, stress less and have more time for what really matters.
