Shemekia Trotter, LMHC
My Personal Statement to You:
My ideal client is the client that suffers from traumatic experiences, depression, anxiety, mood swings, substance use, self- esteem issues, phobias, etc. My client is the one that says, “I don’t know what else to do. I just know I want to feel better.” “I don’t understand why I am this way.”
I am trained in both EMDR therapy and TF-CBT. I also offer a variety of therapeutic modalities that are pertinent to each client individually. I aim at helping clients to restore their self-esteem and build confidence. I also offer a lot of cognitive behavioral therapy. I believe if one can begin to think positive thoughts about themselves or their situations then they can transform their own lives. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy to provide psychoeducation to clients in such a way that they understand the importance of how their thoughts really do have a relationship with their feelings and their actions. In doing so, I teach a variety of coping skills that clients can practice at home that helps to reduce stress, improve self-esteem, decrease depression, and anxiety.
I want you to know that you are not alone and that someone is available to hear your story. My desire is to see you happy and thriving again with less stress, pain, and suffering. Let me help guide you through this journey!
